Peters Calls For Repeal Of Nuclear Storage Policy Act Amendments Act of 1987
Las Vegas, NV…Today Sam Peters, United States Air Force veteran and Republican candidate for Congress, issued a strong statement supporting President Trump’s recent comments that an alternative must be found to simply using Yucca Mountain as a permanent nuclear waste dump. Peters is also calling for a full repeal of the Nuclear Storage Policy Act Amendments Act of 1987 that has been the cause of stalemate and distrust between Nevadans and the Federal Government on the issue for over 30 years. Peters says that Nevadans must never be put in a position where their voices aren’t heard when it comes to activities in their state. Peters is the only candidate on the same page with President Trump on this critical issue.
“The President is right that an alternative to the nation’s issue of nuclear waste storage must be found. A singular option of permanent waste storage at Yucca Mountain was thrust upon Nevadans, and we’ve been in stalemate for 32 years because of it. A new plan must be developed, with Nevadan’s voices being heard,” said Sam Peters, Republican candidate for Congress. “Nevada is ready to be part of this conversation, which is why I’m calling for the repeal of the Nuclear Storage Policy Act Amendments Act of 1987 so that we can tackle this challenge collaboratively. Nevada is a state of innovation, not a dump. Let’s work together to find a lasting solution to this critical issue.”
