Peters Renews Calls for Secretary Cegavske To Reject Voting Systems

It Is Essential Nevadans Have Trust in the Election Process

Las Vegas, NV/November 5, 2021…Today Sam Peters, United States Air Force veteran, Bronze Star recipient, and Republican candidate for Congress in Nevada’s 4th District, renewed his on Nevada’s Secretary of State, Barbara K. Cegavske to reject the use of electronic/computerized tabulating machines for the upcoming 2022 elections citing reasons noted in his letter to the Secretary that has gone unanswered since August 2021. Peters pointed out that this week, in New Jersey, there have been numerous irregularities in the gubernatorial and legislative elections that may have altered the election results and further diminished people’s trust in the election process. He noted that under Nevada law, electronic/computerized tabulating machines cannot be used unless specifically approved by the Secretary of State. Peters believes firmly that rejecting further use of voting machines that have verified vulnerabilities is a must. He noted this is not just one political party raising issues but in the New Jersey cases, candidates of both parties have questioned the electronic voting systems.

“Concerns about the tabulation of votes with electronic voting machines is not a Republican or Democratic issue.   It is an American issue. In New Jersey, elected officials in both parties are questioning the results due to the use of computerized/electronic voting machines with the result being chaos and no trust in the results,” said Sam Peters.  “We cannot allow this in Nevada. That is why I’m again urging the Secretary to act immediately and to start preparations ahead of the 2022 election cycle. Nevada has a history of being first in the west and if we act now, we can set the right example for the nation.

“The right to vote is a scared right of Americans,” concluded Peters. “Yet just as sacred is the assurance that every legally cast vote is counted properly and only once. Continued use of the electronic/computerized tabulating machines, with verifiable deficiencies and that Nevada used in 2020, will further erode voter confidence in the electoral process. Secretary Cegavske has the authority and must take action now – it’s her job!”
