Las Vegas, NV…Today Sam Peters, United States Air Force veteran and Republican candidate for Congress in Nevada’s 4th District, announced his 11-point plan for ending the problem of illegal immigration. Peters is the first and only candidate to announce a comprehensive plan.

“We are facing a serious crisis at the border. The incumbent says it is a civil rights issue. He’s wrong. It is a national security threat to our nation,” said Peters, who earned a Bronze Star in Afghanistan. “As the next Congressman, I will put our nation and our legal residents first.”

“Our nation has always embraced immigration and should continue to do so, but immigrants must come to our country legally. Our laws must be respected. Unfortunately, Congressman Horsford equates immigration to illegal immigration. It shows a complete disrespect for our nation’s laws.”

Peters strongly believes that Horsford broke his oath of office to uphold the Constitution when he publicly posted ways for illegal aliens to avoid law enforcement.

“Horsford swore to uphold the Constitution. His posts not only undermined the efforts of law enforcement, but he also put them in danger. He should resign from office –not run for re-election.” said Peters.

“I am a firm believer in legal immigration. We can improve and expedite the process for those who want to come to our country legally, but that doesn’t mean open borders as the incumbent supports,” said Peters.

The Peters 11-Point Plan:
✓ Building the wall,
✓ Holding elected officials who violate our federal immigration laws legally accountable,
✓ Ending chain migration for non-immediate family members,
✓ Prohibiting sanctuary cities and states by holding back federal funding,
✓ Ending the visa lottery system,
✓ Prohibiting illegal aliens from receiving taxpayer-funded welfare and health care benefits,
✓ Increasing penalties on businesses that knowingly hire illegal aliens,
✓ Requiring mandatory employer verification of worker eligibility,
✓ Reducing refugee and visa fraud by re-evaluating criteria and improving background checks,
✓ Ending visa overstays, and
✓ Enacting merit-based immigration reform to expedite the naturalization process.

“Illegal immigration has led to an increase in drug and human trafficking. We have seen an increase in MS13 gang crimes. As a father, I take public safety very seriously. We cannot allow and our country can not sustain an open borders policy. Beyond the cost of human life, illegal immigration costs Nevada taxpayers $1.6B annually and the nation $116B annually,” said Peters.

Peters says social service costs are just the tip of the iceberg. Illegal immigration hurts the jobs marketplace by undercutting labor wages due to work done under the table. Law enforcement is at ever increasing risk and incarceration costs are surging. That’s why, as a fiscal conservative, he supports investing in the wall.

Peters is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served his country in Afghanistan, Iraq, Panama, and Korea. He earned the Bronze Star for his efforts in Afghanistan.

After his service to our nation, Peters settled in Las Vegas with his family. Peters worked for two years as a corporate employee where he managed nearly $100 million in annual revenue across the largest geographical region in the United States. Exercising his entrepreneurial spirit, Peters founded Peters Family Insurance with two locations. He presently employs eight.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Park University. He finished his Master of Science in Administration, with focus on law, through Central Michigan University. His continued thirst for knowledge also led him through a Graduate-Level Certificate Program in Organizational Finance from the University of Maryland University College.
