Former Reagan Appointee Endorses Peters For Congress
Las Vegas, NV…Today Sam Peters, United States Air Force veteran and Republican candidate for Congress in Nevada’s 4th District, announced that former President Ronald Reagan appointee to the State Justice Institute, Joseph W. Brown, has endorsed his candidacy. This is the first major endorsement in this Congressional race to replace Steve Horsford.
“I’ve had a long and eventful career working with business, legal, and government professionals both here in Nevada and in Washington, DC, and I’ve never met a young leader as prepared to serve effectively and honorably in the U.S. Congress as Sam Peters,” said Brown.
Joseph W. Brown is a former appointee of President Ronald Reagan to the State Justice Institute and the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission of the United States (1981-88) and has served as an officer or director of many businesses, civic and charitable organizations including the Nature Conservancy, the Department of Wildlife, the Nevada Development Authority, the Nevada Athletic Commission, Wells Fargo Bank, and as a Commissioner for the Nevada Gaming Commission. He is the Founder and former Vice Chair of the Nevada Military Support Alliance.

Brown is listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America in the field of government relations law and was also recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as one of the top business and corporate lawyers in the five- state mountain region, as well as being named to the Super Lawyers Business Edition and the Best Lawyers in America list. In addition, Mr. Brown served as Chairman of the Government Affairs Practice Group of Terralex. As a former Commissioner of the Nevada Athletic Commission, Mr. Brown has developed a practice in the area of sports law.
Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Washington & Lee University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia. He is admitted to practice before the state and federal courts of Nevada
and the District of Columbia. In December 2012, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Law degree by the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and in 2013 he was given the Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Washington and Lee University School of Law. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Patrick Henry award from the National Guard Association of the United States.
Two weeks ago NumbersUSA gave Peters their highest rating – “True Reformer” – on ending illegal immigration in our country. Peters has the campaign growing momentum every day.

Peters is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served his country in Afghanistan, Iraq, Panama, and Korea. He earned the Bronze Star for his efforts in Afghanistan.
After his service to our nation, Peters settled in Las Vegas with his family. Peters worked for two years as a corporate employee where he managed nearly $100 million in annual revenue across the largest geographical region in the United States. Exercising his entrepreneurial spirit, Peters founded Peters Family Insurance with two locations which was recently named “Best of Las Vegas” in two categories by the Las Vegas Review Journal. He presently employs eight.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Park University. He finished his Master of Science in Administration, with focus on law, through Central Michigan University. His continued thirst for knowledge, has also led him through a Graduate-Level Certificate Program in Organizational Finance from the University of Maryland University College.
