LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Republican Nominee for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District, Sam Peters denounces incumbent Steven Horsford for stalling on needed legislation that would support law enforcement funding until the last possible moment; which coincidentally comes just weeks prior to midterm elections.

Sam Peters had this to say:

“Steven Horsford revealed his true sentiments when he stood for the Defund The Police movement as America was torched by lawless rioters in the summer of 2020. Now, Horsford is signaling a break from his Congressional Progressive Caucus, which has blocked legislation to provide funding for local police departments nationwide during a time when it’s needed most.

Of course, Horsford couldn’t be bothered to support this legislation while he and his Congressional Progressive Caucus blocked it for almost a year. Conveniently, he’s possibly changing course mere weeks prior to midterm elections.

He claimed that the legislation would give a ‘blank check to police departments’ and they don’t believe the solution is ‘putting more money in’. Meanwhile, nationwide police shortages and skyrocketing crime continues to threaten the safety of our communities.

As headlines such as ‘Violent crime causing corporate exodus across the U.S.’ reveal the consequences of the Defund The Police and open border movements, Horsford’s ‘politics over people’ creed has kept funds hostage instead of hiring more police.

The Public Safety Alliance of Nevada, who represent a majority of law enforcement officers in Nevada, have endorsed me because they know I will support law enforcement. In fact, I recently rode-along with an officer in the Las Vegas Metro Northeast Area Command for a shift and saw firsthand the pressure these officers are under – because of decreased resources and higher crime incidents. Horsford and the Democrats own this!

Weeks before ballots hit mailboxes, it is convenient that Horsford may break with his caucus. For the last two years he has been silent on these issues while taking money from people and organizations that support and push the Defund the Police movement. This legislation has been held up for almost a year by the Democrats, and now Horsford is breaking ranks?

He is a politician’s politician. He doesn’t care what people think until it is time to vote. It’s time for Horsford to go.”
